TasteAtlas: Lima ranked third among 100 best cities in the world to try local food | Noticias

Lima has been recognized as the third-best city in the world where Peruvians or foreigners can enjoy the best food based on a wide variety of typical Peruvian dishes, according to the

.

TasteAtlas, an experiential travel online guide for traditional food that collates authentic recipes, food critic reviews, and research articles about popular ingredients and dishes, put Lima in third place with a score of 4.66, after Italian cities of Florence (4.71) and Rome (4.68).

Thus, the international food guide highlights that Lima is a gastronomic hotspot and its traditional cuisine is characterized by its diverse flavors and the use of fresh seafood.

“The local food scene is renowned for its innovative fusion of traditional Peruvian ingredients with international culinary techniques, making Lima a gastronomic hotspot,” TasteAtlas stated in an article.

Moreover, the food guide’s description notes that locals are particularly fond of ceviche, a dish made with raw fish marinated in citrus juices and spiced with chili peppers.

Similarly, it mentions tiradito, a Peruvian-Japanese hybrid featuring thinly sliced raw fish with a spicy sauce, as a unique and emblematic offering of the city.

Also worth of note are anticuchos, skewers of marinated beef heart grilled to perfection, which may not sound like an appealing dish but are hard to beat when it comes to street food.

TasteAtlas’ list of must-eat dishes from Lima also includes local foods such as butifarra, salchipapas, ceviche, and aji de gallina.

Finally, the experiential travel guide invites diners to visit the following restaurants when in Lima: Isolina Taberna Peruana, Astrid y Gaston, Mi Barrunto, Panchita, and Antigua Taberna Queirolo.
