4 elements – Fire, Earth, Water and Air in Calcaterra collection

Recently fashion brand CALCATERRA presented its Spring-Summer 2025 collection, “Connections,” during Milan Fashion Week and it was quite an experience. The collection was deeply inspired by nature and the elements—Fire, Earth, Water, and Air. You could see how these elements influenced everything, from the color palette to the shapes and fabrics. Rich reds, reminiscent of fire, slowly gave way to ethereal whites, bringing in a sense of airiness and calm.

The fabrics themselves felt alive. There was a lot of silk organza, cold-dyed cotton, and fil coupé, all mimicking natural movements—like leaves rustling in the breeze or the intense colors of a sunset. One piece that stood out was a deep red dress, lightened by hand-woven silk chiffon fringes. It had a fluidity that made it look as though it was floating.

Throughout the collection, there was this recurring theme of lightness—everything seemed to move effortlessly. The silhouettes were loose yet protective, creating this balance between comfort and elegance. Even the trousers were unique. They weren’t tailored in the traditional sense—no pockets or seams—but draped naturally, almost as if they formed on the body, giving off a vibe reminiscent of Josephine Baker’s fluid style.

What was particularly striking was how the collection seemed to emphasize the importance of reconnecting with our natural essence. The fabrics were organic, the dyes were biological, and the craftsmanship felt intentional as if every detail was meant to remind us of our place within nature. It wasn’t just about the aesthetic—it felt like a deeper exploration of how we can return to something more essential, more connected. The result was a collection where effort, creativity, and nature came together to create something truly cohesive and meaningful.
