Anaheim, CA (Friday, July 17, 2015)

Today, marks the day that Walt Disney changed the way America vacations. It was on this day in 1955 that Disney opened Disneyland in Anaheim, California--a place where parents and children would have “a place to play together.”

For six decades, Disneyland Resort has explored the frontiers of immersive storytelling, bringing exciting attractions and inventive entertainment to life. The ongoing Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration is highlighted by three new nighttime spectaculars that, once again, raise the bar on creativity and entertainment technology that keeps the resort and its guests forever young.

· Paint the Night – All New Electrical Parade” features dazzling special effects, unforgettable music, energetic performances and spectacular floats

· “Disneyland Forever” fireworks is a street-to-sky, immersive experience that surrounds guests in the world of timeless Disney tales

· “World of Color – Celebrate!” Neil Patrick Harris and Mickey Mouse entertain guests on a magical water canvas filled with fountains, lasers, animated imagery and special effects

In honor of Disneyland’s 60th anniversary, each park guest was given a

cupcake and sang “Happy Birthday.” The party continued as Disneyland Resort President, Michael Colglazier announced “Million Dollar Dazzle.” Each month of the Diamond Celebration, a local nonprofit will be surprised with a $60,000 gift. Combined, these gifts will amount to more than $1 million throughout the celebration. Later in the day, cast members along with their original 1955 counterparts were celebrated in a cavalcade down Main Street, U.S.A.

The ceremony included a special performance by Oscar-winning composer and Disney Legend Richard Sherman and renowned Broadway actress Ashley Brown who performed “Feed the Birds” (from “Mary Poppins”), Walt Disney’s favorite song. Brown can also be heard every night, at the conclusion of the “Disneyland Forever” fireworks, singing “A Kiss Goodnight,” a song also composed by Sherman.
